Richard Cayka Obituary

Cayka, Richard C. (Rick)

Richard C. (Rick) Cayka, 58, of Johnson City, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 after a short illness. He was predeceased by his parents: John and Sue Cayka. He is survived by a devoted aunt, Marion Megelich, a cousin and his wife, Gary & Sue Megelick, and their two sons, Daniel and Christopher (C.J.), both of whom were very special to Rick and who meant so much to him. Rick was a lifelong fan of polka music and attended many polka dances and performances in the Triple Cities. He was also a longtime member of the Bill Flynn Polka Fan Club. Rick had to overcome many challenges and obstacles in his life, but did so to the best of his ability, and is now at peace. The family would like to express its thanks to Dana Newell of Catholic Charities for all the help he gave Rick over the last couple of years. As per Rick's request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements by:

Ricky was a great guy with a big heart. I was proud he considered David and I good friends. I will miss being his "cheap date". Enjoy those Polkas in heaven my friend.

We were shocked to hear about the loss of Rick. Our condolences to the family. Growing up and living only a few houses down the street from Rick, he would stop by to chat and make you laugh. He will be missed by us all.

We are so sorry for your loss Marion. We just saw Rich and we were talking to him about his parents. He always seemed so happy. We would see him at the mall in the morning visiting with the people walking there. We're very sad about Rich and send you our thoughts and prayers.
