Richard Schaeffer Obituary
of Deposit, NY
Richard J. Schaeffer, 74, of Deposit, NY, died Christmas Day at his home. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Baker Schaeffer; his children and their spouses, Mark R. and JoAnn Schaeffer, Susan S. and John Zandt and David J. and Shirley Schaeffer; sisters, Mary Lockwood and Nancy Letteer (Thomas); ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mary Schaeffer; brothers, Robert and Charles; and his grandson, Daniel, this year. He worked as a Commercial Construction Superintendent and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 281 for 38 years.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at his church, the Sherman Bible Chapel in Sherman, PA, with Rev. Joseph Axtell, Pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery at Stilesville, NY in the spring. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m. time of service. Memorial donations may be made to the Sherman Bible Chapel or the Lourdes Hospice Program. Arrangements are through the Zacharias Funeral Home in Deposit, NY.

The many years that you were together speak of the good qualities that both of you have. It certainly is an example worthy of imitation. Dick will be missed by all of us as we witnessed the love that he had for his family. I pray that you will find comfort from God's word in this time of need.
