Richard Zemek Obituary

Richard C. Zemek

Binghamton - Richard C. Zemek 65, of Binghamton, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2020 joining his beloved family members who have gone before him. He is predeceased by his parents Mary and Charles Zemek; Marie Richards Zemek; baby brother Charles Jr.; mother and father in-law Dana and Stan Bullock; brother in-law Jerry Albee; special nephews Christopher Albee and Richard Davis.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Eileen Zemek; siblings Mary Jo Albee, Michelle (Bryan) Merry; brother in-law John Bullock (Marcia), Robert Bullock (Walt Huber); nieces and nephews Heather Royce (Joseph Buonocore), Kim Albee, Katie Merry-Williams (Jeremy), Nicholas Merry, Alexandra Merry, Sally Davis; several cousins, great-nieces and nephews and an extended family living in the Czech Republic.

Rich was a retired employee from the State of New York.

Despite numerous health challenges, Rich enjoyed trips to Florida and being at the ocean, horse racing, especially Saratoga Racetrack, OTB. He loved cooking and creating his own recipes. He enjoyed playing blackjack and poker after family dinners. Rich was self-taught on the guitar and he loved Folk music. Rich was very knowledgeable in and enjoyed following the stock market and politics. Although Czech by heritage, Rich was Irish in spirit. Rich's family was his world, and he meant the world to them.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 until 6 pm at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton, NY 13904. Burial will be private for immediate family at Calvary Cemetery. All NYS COVID guidelines will be followed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CHOW, Food Bank of the Southern Tier, or a charity of your choice in Rich's memory.
