Hillcrest - Ronald A. Belensky of Hillcrest, 85, passed away on February 28, 2018. Ron was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Barbara, sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Nicolas Polowicz and brother-in-law, Edward Tomic. Ron is survived by his girls, Karen & Martin Tillapaugh, Kathy & David Staff and Sandra Belensky his loving care giver, grandchildren, Zachary (Betsy) Staff and Casey (Danielle) Staff, great grandchildren, Hayden & Colbie Staff, sister, Patricia Tomic and several nieces and nephews, also special neighbors, Joel and Patricia Scott. Ron was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena now St. Francis of Assisi where he was an usher for over 40 years. He was a US Navy Veteran and the owner operator of Ron's Barber Shop in Hillcrest and later in Port Dickinson for more than 40 years. He was also a former member of the Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Dept. Ron was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be dearly missed by many. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Hillcrest, burial will be held at the convenience of his family in Chenango Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the St. Francis of Assisi Church on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 9:30 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing kindly consider memorial contributions in Ron's name to Every Dog's Dream 1270 NY Rte. 206 Greene, NY 13778.

Ron, you were truly a great friend. We shared a lot of laughter together. Delores and I will never forget our getting together with Kathy and Dave here in Florida to watch your beloved N.Y. METS!!! You taught me well on being an usher with you at St. Francis where you introduced me to many of your friends!!! We will miss you very much Ron, my you RIP with your wife, the love of your life!!!

Karen, Kathy and Sandy, The best thing your parents ever did was buy the house across the street from me. I will always remember your mom and dad sitting on the front porch every night having their evening drink (a highball) and including me in their conversations. Your dad gave me dance lessons before my wedding with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. He was patient with me and even laughed when I stepped on his toes. He gave Daniel his first haircut. Your dad was like a second dad to me. I was a lucky girl to know him. My thoughts are with all of you.

As students at St. Catherines school, Ron was an iconic figure of our youth. He always had a smile and was liked by everyone. We actually looked forward to getting our haircut at Rons barber Shop. RIP.

So sorry to hear of Ron's passing. I can clearly remember him coming into the Soda Spa with his beloved Sports Illustrated and the daily crossword puzzle at lunchtime. Ron was an extremely kind and personable guy, ready to chat with everyone around. He was a real fixture in Hillcrest. I will miss him greatly and never forget his smile.. Condolences to the Belensky family. May God strengthen you during your time of mourning.
