Scott William Gow, Jr.
of Holly Springs, N.C.
Scott W. Gow Jr., 66, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, after a courageous battle with breast cancer surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was born May 26, 1942 in Broome County, N.Y. to Scott W. Gow Sr. and Ruth (Holtzmaster) Gow. Scott lived in New York for most of his life and was an automobile dealer in both Broome County, N.Y. and Susquehanna, Pa. before moving to Cary, N.C. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and grandfather and a great example during adversity to all who knew him.
Scott is survived by his wife of 44 years, JoAnn Gow of Holly Springs, N.C.; three daughters, Michelle (John) Sullivan, Harvard, Mass., Christine (Craig) Borsack, Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Holly (Darren) Tonnessen, Holly Springs, N.C.; grandchildren, Caroline and Patrick Sullivan, Sydney and Hannah Borsack, Georgia Kate Tonnessen; brothers, Gerald Gow and Jesse Gow, Susquehanna, Pa., Larry Gow of Virginia Beach, Virg.; stepsister, Nancy Travis, Johnson City, N.Y.; stepbrother, Frank Peabody of Conklin, N.Y.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 22, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd., Cary, N.C. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 23 at St. Andrews Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Internment will follow in the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's St., Suite 400, Raleigh, N.C. 27605 or Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Fwy., Ste. 250, Dallas, Tex. 75244. The family wished to express their gratitude to the staff at the N.C. Cancer Center of Cary and Hospice of Wake County for their support through this difficult time. They especially want to thank Dr. Singh and Scott's oncology nurse, Jennifer, and all their friends who supported them and gave them strength on this journey. Mr. Gow treated me like I was one of his own and always had a warm and cheerful greeting when I would entire your home (usually just in time for dinner with cheese potatoes).
