Vivian Herlihy Obituary
Binghamton: Vivian S. Herlihy, 84, of Binghamton, died at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Tuesday, February 1, 2011. She was predeceased by her husbands, Ambrose Shady and James Herlihy; a son, David L. Shady; parents, Elmer and Irene Smith; stepfathers, Ralph M. Briggs and Cecil Bell; stepbrother, Marshall Briggs; stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Elaine Doty, Adelaide and Ralph Winters, Caroline and Lester (Red) Marsh; and good friend and companion, Roger Ireland. She is survived by a son, Roger M. Shady, Binghamton; daughter-in-law, Deborah Fike, Concord, NC; grandson, James A. Shady; and great-grandson, Trenton Allan Shady, both of North Carolina; stepsisters and brothers-in-law, Helga and Robert Larson, Florida and Marilyn and Richard Evans, Sanitaria Springs, NY; stepbrothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Dorothy Briggs and Robert and Jean Briggs, all of Endicott, Ralph (Bucky) and Beverly Briggs, Endwell and Lee Edwin and Pam Briggs, Jacksonville, FL; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Vestal and St. Cyril's Church, Alexandria Bay. Vivian was retired from Ideal Hospital, Endicott, where she was secretary to the administrator for 17 years. She was also a board member an officer of the former Harmony Circle of Ideal Hospital, an officer of James Herlihy Trucking Company, Inc., board member of Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral Services will be held Saturday 9:15 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in Vivian's memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Church, 165 Clifton Blvd., Vestal, NY 13850.
