Green, Winifred E.

93, died at Lourdes Hospital on Thursday, July 27, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Esther Green. She is survived by her brother Kenneth Green; sister Barbara Simmons; 1 niece; 3 nephews; several great nieces and nephews; several great, great nieces and nephews. Winnie was born in the upstairs bedroom of her home in Johnson City where she would live for the next 90 years. She worked as a Deputy County Clerk until her retirement in 1983 after 40 years of service. Winnie was a lifelong member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, now Community Bible Church where she was in charge of the nursery for 50 years. It was in the nursery that she became like a surrogate mom to so many children, impacting their lives in countless ways. Her thoughtfulness and generosity was felt by family and friends throughout her life. When she moved to St. Louise Manor into independent living, she stayed active and engaged with family and friends through phone, email and even Facebook. Winnie's first priority in life was the Lord and serving her church, but the family traditions that she made and her wonderful sense of humor will always be remembered. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, at 11:00am, at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City with Rev. Gordon Warner, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:30pm-4:30pm and on Monday from 10:00am until the time of services at the Barber Memorial Home. Those wishing to make a contribution in Winnie's name can consider the Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251.

A precious Saint of God. She taught me in Sunday School! Many years ago. Her memory will stay with me always. May God give this family comfort that only He can do.

My deepest sympathies go out to family and friends. It is so hard to lose someone we love in death. May our heavenly Father give you the comfort and peace that you need now and in the days ahead. John 6:40

Winnie was a great source of encouragement to her pastor. She was always present for the woman's prayer meetings during the week and she was so enjoyable over the lunch table as we gals went out together.

We felt her love and support when we were in the parsonage from 1993-1999.

We'll meet you in the morning, Winnie.
