Winifred Steika Obituary
of Vestal, NY
Winifred G. Steika, 89, of Vestal, went to be with the Lord Friday morning, January 29, 2010. She was born May 11, 1920 in Ogdensburg, PA. She was predeceased by her husband, Ardell Steika. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard (Cathy) Steika, Endwell; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita (Bill) Kress, Binghamton; granddaughters, Robin Steika, Cicero, NY, and Becky Steika, Robbinsville, NJ; grandsons, Jason Kress, Johnson City, and Jarrod Kress, Endwell; great-grandchildren, Breelyn Kress and Anthony Kress; a brother-in-law, Arthur (Louise) Steika, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. Winnie was a member of the former St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The family would like to express their special gratitude to Dr. Bipin Patel for his exemplary care and compassion.
Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main Street, Johnson City, Monday at 12 Noon. The Rev. Nadine E. Ridley, Pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Vestal, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Those wishing may make Memorial Contributions to a charity of their own choice in Winifred G. Steika's memory.

Our condolences to the family. God bless you all! Mrs. Steika was a lovely lady She often talked to us when we walked through the neighborhood. We will miss her.

I was so sorry to read of Winnie's death. We became friends just 3 years ago while she was then raking leaves one fall afternoon, I joined in and we had a lovely visit. We kept in touch over tea and lots of family memories. She was truly a delight and I will miss her light in the window as I drive up the hill. She's in my prayers.
