Beaudry, Yvonne L.

Yvonne L. Beaudry, 84, of Owego, NY, beloved wife, mother and grandmother died April 17, 2016 at Lourdes Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gloversville, NY in 1931 and was predeceased by her parents Everett Monroe Lane and Claire Marie (Fisher) Lane. She spent most of her youth in Richfield Springs, NY where her father was school principal and her mother was a French teacher. She graduated from Green Mountain Junior College in Vermont and SUNY Cortland. After college, Yvonne worked for the Dairyman's League in New York City, for 2 years. She and Fred were married August 28, 1954 in Richfield Springs, NY. They lived in Syracuse, NY for 9 years, then moved to Owego in 1963.Yvonne is survived by her loving husband, Fred, of 62 years, sons Joel Timothy of Rochester, NY Michael Gordon of Newtown, CT (Jill), daughter Jane Bernice of Walkersville, MD and granddaughter, Michaela Josephine, a senior at Savannah College of Art & Design in Savannah, GA, brother, David of Baldwinsville, NY (Charla), sisters, Mary Seely of Fayetteville, NY (Alan) and Margaret Gabrys Nottingham, MD (Robert); cousin, Gail Fisher Sherman of Manchester Center, VT, several nieces and nephews. Yvonne was very community minded - serving as a cancer volunteer driver, Friends of Colburn Library treasurer, sang in choirs in Syracuse (West Genesee Presbyterian) and Owego (First Presbyterian Union), many years at Tioga County Board of Elections, Tioga Country Club swim team booster, Girl Scout camping leader, and Literacy Volunteer. Yvonne and her dear friend, Jane Pritchard Murphy successfully co-directed a number of theme dinner dances to raise funds for Tioga County Boys & Girls Club. She became a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow in 2013, awarded for her community service. Yvonne loved live theatre productions, playing bridge, was an avid reader of novels, and loved skiing at Greek Peak and in Vermont. Her passion, however, was playing golf as a member at Tioga Country Club for 27 years and later as a member of Binghamton Country Club for 19 years. At BCC she became president of the Women's Golf League. Fred and Yvonne enjoyed traveling, and in their retirement years, traveled to Canada, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, a tour of Europe including the 50th Anniversary of D-Day, another, the Grand Tour of the British Isles, plus a driving tour of England, Wales and Scotland with their good friends, Joyce and John Bowen, who also convinced us to join them on a cruise from England to Ireland, Iceland, and Newfoundland. They also toured Italy with daughter Jane and friends. The family is grateful for the care providers at Owego Fire Department Emergency Squad, and Lourdes Hospital ICU for their loving care. A Funeral Service will be held at the First Presbyterian Union Church, North Avenue, Owego, NY on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 11:00am with Rev. Lisa Heckman, officiating. Dear Fred, Joel, Michael and Jane

We are so shocked and saddened to learn of Yvonne's passing. So many fond memories are flooding into my mind....it seems like yesterday we were together at EEB.

She was a great lady and I am so happy that we got a chance to see her this summer at the Dick's Open, catch up and reminisce.

She loved you all with all of her heart - her family meant the world to her. Please accept our condolences. We will pray for your peace and comfort.

Sincerely,
Emily and David Arbes
