Alvin M. Dordahl

DORDAHL, Alvin M. Died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 22, 2002 after a short battle with cancer. He is lovingly survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly Dordahl; his son Randy of Yakima, WA; his daughter and son-in-law Jan & Kurt Tiedemann of Healdsburg and six grandchildren. His son Marty Dordahl preceded him in death. He was born on January 24, 1929 in Wild Rose, ND. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served as a Refrigeration Equipment Repair mechanic. He worked in irrigation design and sales for Rain Bird and Automatic Rain in California before opening Top Irrigation in Toppenish, WA. He opened Top Pump and Supply in Healdsburg after moving back from WA in 1977. He was an active member of Kiwanis, Sons of Norway and St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church. Living next door to Jan and Kurt, Al spent time each day with his grandsons Rory and Jay and completed many chores on both homesteads with his tractor. He also enjoyed spending the winter seasons after his retirement with Bev in Borrego Springs, CA and traveling to Norway to visit relatives. He leaves a legacy of love for his family and charity toward others. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday, April 5, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 905 Mendocino Avenue, Santa Rosa.
