Anthony Michael "Tony" Sheppard

Anthony Michael "Tony" Sheppard obituary

Anthony Sheppard Obituary

Formerly of Santa Rosa, died quietly at his home in Hidden Valley Lake with his dog Chino by his side. He was 45 years old. Tony is survived by his two sons: Nicholas and Derek; his parents Bobby and Margaret; and his wife Judy. He also leaves behind his sister Leah "Kristi" (Craig) Balderson and their son Joey; as well as his brother Jeremy (Andrea) Sheppard and their daughter Kayren. Tony was predeceased by his long-time friend John Herbst, and is further survived by a vast array of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tony was born in San Jose, CA, and graduated from La Sierra Academy in Riverside, CA. After he moved back to Northern California, he worked many years for the County of Sonoma. Bilingual because of time spent living in Lima, Peru, Tony was able to use those skills in his work, serving the community through the departments of DA Family Support and Transportation and Public Works, where he leaves many friends bereft at his loss. Tony was a die-hard Dodgers fan (despite the unpopularity of that position here), an avid golfer, an enthusiastic guitarist, and a man in love with his sons, who were the light of his life. A big teddy bear of a man, he was known for his devotion to his family, work, and for always having a smile on his face. He leaves many feeling cheated that he couldn't be here longer. He will be dearly missed. A memorial service and reception will be held on Sunday, January 24th at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Rosa Veteran's Memorial Building, located at 1351 Maple Drive in Santa Rosa. Trust funds have also been established for each of Tony's sons at Wells Fargo Bank.

Hello my Love Hello: I'm just sitting here and don't know what to say to you or your Dear Dear Family. I guess memories are the best - when you came to stay with Art & I and we told you we were going sailing on or Yacht - you were so excited until we got to the dock and it was a raft that you had to paddle. When our Yacht did come in you would not fall for it - but you were my Dear our first passenger and I will never forget when you said to us the raft was easier and you were right. I loved when you came to San Francisco and stayed with me - we had lunch everyday and went to see Moonraker. I miss you already and told your Dear Mother & Dad this world will not seem the same without your kindness and gentleness that you inheritited from your Parents. Sleep well My Love until we see you again. I do know in my heart that Grandmother, Mrs Shepherd, Mother & Dad will take such good care of you until we all meet again. I love you Tony and Rest - it's your turn. Love, Cousin Sherree

I'm saddened to read of an old friend passing, I met Tony in the late eighties we lived in the same apartment bulding, right before Tony went to work at the D.A.s office he bought a 1974 ugly black "pinto pony" car he paid $400. for ,he loved it. He would drive me to work in it so i would let him use it to look for a job. my then boyfriend ,tony and other neighbors played many hands of poker around the only table he owned the coffee table. When a muatul friend and i went to a rolling stones consert we called Tony so he could listen he did love those stones. When i think of Tony his Laugh is what i always enjoyed boy did we all laugh. I'm so sorry for his families lost when i know him my own boys were about 4 and 8 the oldest played little league he loved talking baseball with Tony and Tony loved it to.my boys remember him and are also saddened. we didnt see each other for many years but buddy you will be missed.

Judy, Derek and Nicholas,
May the love and kindness of friends and family help you through this difficult time. Tony interviewed me for my position at Child Support Services and he put me at ease right away. Through the years of working with him I have many memories of his laugh, his kindnesses and his great sense of humor. I remember him as a great Santa Claus at the Christmas party. Rest in peace, Tony.

What a heartsick feeling to learn of Tony's passing. He could find the humor in any situation and had a personal presence that lit up any room. How sensitive he was to child support clients, and how fair he was to the employees he supervised. I will remember his great big smile that added joy to the world, and his love of family. Condolences to his family as they experience this difficult time.

My heart goes out to Tony's family. He was a big man with a huge heart. He made an effort to make everyone feel comfortable in any situation, and could make his friends laugh with his keen wit.
