Blanche Mansoor

1932 - 2025

Blanche Mansoor, born May 18, 1932, in Arlington, South Dakota, passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 93, in Spokane, Washington.

After graduating from high school, Blanche moved to San Francisco, California, where she met and married Alfred ("Al") Mansoor, an Egyptian immigrant. This was 1960. American women in that era generally did not marry Egyptians. Nonetheless, her unusual choice proved to be a sound decision. Their marriage endured for well over fifty years, producing two sons, Mark and Kevin.

Soon after they married, Al and Blanche moved to Santa Rosa, where both became fixtures in the community. Blanche enjoyed a long and successful career as a stockbroker, which, again, was unusual for a woman in that era. Outside the office, she was a gifted seamstress and quilter, creating beautiful quilts and clothing that her family treasures. In retirement, she continued to contribute her many talents to the community, staying active in Faith Lutheran Church, volunteering at the Treasure House and later serving as treasurer of her retirement community. Finally, after sixty years in Santa Rosa, she moved to Spokane, Washington to be closer to family.

Blanche believed deeply in the power of positive thinking, refusing to believe that life could ever present a challenge that she couldn't overcome with the right frame of mind. She never feared death, but she abhorred the idea of getting old. And she never did. She bought an iPhone, somehow learned to use it, and counted her daily steps until the day she died at the age of 93.

Blanche is survived by her two sons, Mark (Rachel) and Kevin (Jennifer) Mansoor; three grandchildren, Elizabeth House and Abigail and Matthew Mansoor; and one great-granddaughter, Emma House.

A brief memorial ceremony will take place at Santa Rosa Memorial Park on November 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. Friends and family will gather with positive attitudes.
