Bonnie DAVIS Obituary

DAVIS, Bonnie Giver of life. Giver of love. Bestower of joy. Santa Rosa has lost one of its most precious citizens. Born in Inglewood, CA on April 19, 1954, Bonnie passed into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at home, surrounded by the love of her two sons. Bonnie was one of three girls born to Don and Fran Davenport. The family moved to Santa Rosa in 1957 where Bonnie attended Doyle Park Elementary, and Herbert Slater Jr High, graduating from Montgomery High School in 1972. She attended Seattle Pacific University and graduated in 1977 with her B.S. in Nursing. She married Reed Davis in 1977 and later moved to Terre Haute, IN, where Reed finished school and Bonnie practiced nursing. After moving back to WA, Bonnie gave birth to Ben in 1984, and later to Andrew, in 1987. The joy of being Mom eclipsed all of the other highlights of Bonnie's life and career, and she raised her beloved sons to trust and honor God with their lives. Bonnie and her family moved to Sonoma County in 1990 and settled among the redwoods of Occidental. The family moved to Santa Rosa in 1997. Bonnie's mother, Fran, became sick in 2013 and moved in with Bonnie who was her fulltime care giver. Fran passed away in early 2015. Bonnie was diagnosed with cancer just six months later, and began treatments which sustained her and upheld her spirits until just weeks ago when she grew seriously ill. Bonnie loved Jesus Christ and trusted Him to guide every aspect of her life. She was a woman of extraordinary faith, joy and love and will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her two cherished sons, Ben and Andrew Davis. A memorial celebratory service will be held in her honor at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 7th at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, 1225 Sonoma Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95404 with a reception to follow. Remembrances and donations can be made to Ben Davis at 4115 Trinity Dr., Santa Rosa CA 95405.

Not sure what to say?

I met Bonnie while camping with mutual friends in Carpinteria. It was a great place to meet someone as there were nights around the camp fire that we talked about our lives, laughed and made memories. I wish we had kept in touch as she is one of those rare people that just brought effortless joy to others I really admired her and
Im sure she will be greatly missed.

Bonnie was a high school classmate that I remember with fondness. Always positive and kind. A beautiful smile, beautiful eyes, and obviously a beautiful heart. She, her sons, and her dearest friends will be in my thoughts and prayers.

We were so sad to learn of Bonnie's passing! My husband and I met her 20 years ago when she was with Easter Seals and worked with our newly adopted twins. She had such a wonderful spirit and love for everyone around her. She made such a huge impression on us as a nurse and friend, that we have always counted ourselves lucky to have known her and spent time with her. Ben & Andrew, we always felt as if we knew you, because your mom talked about you all the time. I remember thinking, "what lucky boys, to have her for their mom." You're in our thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to you, I know how proud and loving Bonnie was of her sons. She was a blessing to know and I always enjoyed her thoughts and input in our Bible Study group. May she rest in peace with her lord.
