Brian Turner Obituary

Brian Turner
October 22, 1943 - December 14, 2022
Brian Alexander Turner passed away on Wednesday December 14, 2022, with his family by his side. He was 79 years old.
Brian was born on October 22, 1943, to Alexander and Willie Mae Turner in Omaha, Nebraska. He was raised in Lubbock Texas, where he spent most of his childhood, until moving with the family to Sacramento, California just before his senior year in high school. Brian went on to earn a Bachelor and Master's degree in Economics at Sacramento State college. While at Sacramento State, Brian met Jean Marie Gloeckner [Turner] of Sebastopol, California. They were married in 1967 and moved back to Sebastopol. They had three children together: Kelly Marie Turner [Henry], Patrick Brian Turner, and Andrew Ryan Turner. Brian and Jean divorced in 1983, but both remained in Sebastopol where they continued to raise their three children together.
Brian worked most of his professional career at Bank of America, in San Francisco. He commuted from Sebastopol to San Francisco on Golden Gate Transit, where he later met Mary Lou Taufer [Turner]. Brian and Mary Lou were married on November 23, 1985 and merged their two families together to include her children, son Chris Handling and daughter Carolyn Handling. They spent 38 loving years together before his passing. Brian and Mary Lou hosted many wonderful celebrations at their home in Sebastopol, and always welcomed family and friends to share in their love of life and happiness. Brian and Mary Lou were the pillars of the Turner family and lived their lives as an example of selfless commitment.
Brian retired from Bank of America in 1990, and pursued a career as a general contractor, building and remodeling homes. Brian loved music, cooking, grilling, horseback riding, and the outdoors. He and Mary Lou would often set off on adventures in their camper trailer, going up and down the coast of California and cross country. It didn't matter to them where they went, as long as they were together, they were happy.
Brian was preceded into the afterlife by his mother, father, and brother Craig Turner. Brian leaves behind children Kelly and Scott Henry, Patrick Turner, Andrew and Sandra Turner, Chris Handling, and Carolyn Handling. He also leaves grandchildren Taylor Turner, Jordan Henry, Domenica Domiray, Ryan Turner, Kameela Domiray, Cole Henry, Charlee Turner, Andie Turner, Johnathan Handling, Anthony Handling, and great grandchild, Brody Turner.
"Our father was the most patient, kind, and loving person you would ever know. He had an incredible ability to place himself in another's shoes, and never passed judgment or criticism onto others. He believed there was good in every person, and he lived his life with truth and tolerance. We cherish the memories we will hold forever" ~ Kelly, Patrick, and Andrew
A celebration of life for immediate family will be planned in the next few weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
