Charmaine Thiessen Obituary
(Waldemar) Thiessen
On July 27th, 2019, Charmaine slipped from the arms of her soulmate to the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Born November 22nd, 1956, in Petaluma CA, she grew up and attended school there until her graduation in 1975. Charmaine attended SRJC and shortly thereafter became an OR Surgical Tech and later an Orthopedic Surgical Assistant, a vocation she loved and followed her entire 40-year career.
Charmaine could make anything fun, her outsized sense of humor brought great joy to those who loved her. She loved adventure, riding into an Alaskan bush strip atop a load of lumber on one occasion, camping, hiking, and even learned to drive a large semi-truck. Her life was centered around her job, husband, dogs and decorating her home which she helped remodel.
Her 33-year marriage was filled with reciprocated love, laughter, and the compassionate care she gave patients, especially frightened seniors who she encountered in surgery. She would often reassure them while singing "You are my Sunshine".
She was preceded in death by her family, Larry, Ann, and Cathleen Waldemar, and survived by her husband Jim, three children, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no memorial service but her ashes will be committed to the ocean at Bodega Head (Hole in the Head parking lot, across from Doran Park) Saturday November 23rd at 2 p.m.; you are welcome to come wish her Godspeed on her journey.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Salvation Army may be made.

Oh Mama, I am moving ahead, I have found love again, and the pain becomes more manageable each day, but there are days when I can only cry out for you as I weep in hopeless despair. I am so sorry to hear of Charmaines passing. We shared many good laughs together at work! I was always grateful on the days I knew I was working with Charmaine! Whenever she spoke of you, she would beam. Your tribute to her was very touching. I am lucky to have worked with her!

I worked with Charmaine in the OR at PVH in the mid to late 80's. She was so fun and loved to play pranks on her co-workers. I can still hear her laugh ! She had a wonderful passion for Orthopedics. God Speed Charmaine , RIP.

What a great memorial. I never met Charmaine but I knew a lot about her through Jim. She was a dedicated nurse , mother, and wife. So sorry for your loss Jimmy but one day you will again be hand in hand

What a wonderful memorial tribute for a woman who was dearly loved by her husband. Viewing the pictures in this obituary you can see the love that was between Jim and Charmaine in the manner in which they hold each other. There is another side to this life and I am sure Charmaine is waiting for her Jim to join her.

Charmaine and I had a beautiful friendship, from junior high at Kenilworth through HS at Petaluma High. Later, we shared an apartment on Lakeville and D Street in Petaluma. We used to race to our separate bedrooms before 10PM, because that was when the trains would switch tracks and be hellla noisy!! I love, loved, and will remember always, my beautiful friend, CHARMAINE.
