Dave Southard died on December 30, 2021, with his wife and two sons by his side, holding him after a long battle with an autoimmune disorder. He was 62 and a lifelong resident of Cloverdale CA, growing up in the family business and graduating from CHS in '77. He only left Cloverdale to attend college, first at Shasta JC then graduating from Chico State University in '81. The bulk of his working career was spent as an auto adjuster. One of his greatest joys was coaching youth sports while his boys were growing up, always giving a life lesson along with each coaching moment. He was respected by all who met him as a fair and just man with a strong sense of integrity and kindness.
In his free time, Dave enjoyed camping, boating, riding motorcycles, trading stocks, watching his grandchildren, playing games with cherished friends, spending time and traveling with his beloved wife of 34 years, Melanee. He had a gift of conversation, a lively sense of humor and a sparkle in his eyes. He was dedicated to his family, both blood and chosen, and would always be there to lend a hand with any task.
Dave is survived by his wife Melanee Southard, sons Ryan (Brittni), Brett (Nikki), parents R. B. and Marlys Southard, sister Jan Southard, brother Paul (Juli) Southard and a beautiful extended family of grandchildren, a niece, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins whom he loved so dearly.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in the spring. His family and friends love him dearly and he will be greatly missed.
