Dolores Evans Obituary

Dolores Juliene Evans
September 14, 1938 - April 15, 2022
Dolores Juliene Evans of Santa Rosa, California, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, died peacefully at the age of 83. Born to William and Virginia Bermingham, Dolores grew up in South San Francisco where she formed many friendships that have lasted a lifetime, some as far back as elementary school. She graduated from South San Francisco High School in 1956 where she first fulfilled her desire to be on the stage. Her drama teacher instilled a love of the theatre and told her about a little-known place called Ashland, Oregon. Dolores eventually found her way there as an adult and enjoyed attending their annual Shakespearean Festival, returning as often as she could.
Dolores attended San Francisco State University, then began working as a Service Representative for Pacific Bell/ATT until her retirement. Her friendly, outgoing personality was evident to all, and she again built lasting friendships throughout her career. Dolores and her late husband, Robert Evans, met in the 4th grade. He would often say that he was mesmerized by her pretty ponytail, that swung side to side as she walked. They married in 1958 and shared a wonderful 60 years together until Bob's passing in 2018. Dolores and Bob started their family in 1961, then moved North to Novato, where their focus was always family first. With their children grown, the couple then relocated to Santa Rosa, where they continued to be a magnet for family and friends. Family gatherings were always a priority for Dolores and she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at the family's vacation home in Graeagle, CA.
Dolores was an avid patron of the arts and supporter of Santa Rosa's Symphony Orchestra, Pops Concert Series, Junior College Theatre, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, and San Francisco's Broadway SF Series. She was a voracious reader and traveled extensively, with Ireland and Italy as her favorites.
Dolores will never be forgotten by her devoted children, Scott Evans (Debbie), Kristin Caudel (Wayne), Matthew Evans (Bryan); her adored grandchildren Brad Evans, Emily Brownfield (Jordan,), Kelsey and Lindsey Caudel; her treasured great grandchildren; Lilah and Aria (Kelsey,) and Melanie and Beckham (Emily and Jordan.); her caring sister Joan Johnson; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, who will all miss her warm and loving presence in their lives. Private services will be held in Graeagle at a later date. If desired, please make a donation in Dolores' name to any of the organizations listed above.
