Donald Silva Obituary

Donald Arthur Silva
January 7, 1935 - December 18, 2021
Don Silva our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, nephew and friend passed away peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2021, three weeks shy of his 87th birthday. Don was the first child born in Fort Bragg, California after the new year in 1935 to the late Arthur and Jessie Silva. He was the proud and loving husband of 60 years to his adored Alice. Don was the proud father of his two sons, Marc (Devvi), Scott (Christine) and a proud grandfather to his grandson John and granddaughter Jessie and was the loving big brother to the late Adelle Silva. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors. He was grateful for being able to have had a lifetime of hunting and fishing trips with his lifelong friend, Richard Donati, and on numerous hunting and fishing trips with his late friend Rich Brooks. He and Alice, a.k.a. "Pop and Maa" loved and always looked forward to their yearly fishing trips at Collins Lake in their motor home with John and Jessie in search of the elusive tagged Trout, that when caught would win you a pint of ice cream on a giant cone as well as a photo of the catch on their "brag wall" that Maa was especially proud of. Don and Alice enjoyed their annual fishing trips with friends to Eagle Lake for a week of fishing, eating tasty food, and being able to play his four-string banjo while camping in their RV. Don adored four wheeling in his 1964 Jeep CJ5 and was a member of the Old Adobe 4 Wheelers Jeep Club. In his younger days, Don rode dirt bikes with his sons Marc and Scott. He adored his brother-in-law, Joe Espinosa, and cherished their time together accompanying him on trips to Europe scouting out the latest auto body repair equipment of all shapes and sizes. He worked for PG&E for 35 years. After retiring from the substation department in 1990, he joined the "Reddy Rovers" (a PG&E R.V. camping group) and made many friends there. He started his own electrical contracting business shortly after retirement, that lasted for over 20 years. Don found great pride and enjoyment in helping family and friends with their electrical projects of all kinds. He was generous with his time for whatever the need. In his later years: he loved to work in the yard, watch the birds, feed the goldfish in the pond and feed the deer. Don liked to tinker with equipment of all kinds and was always working on or making something. Along with his sons and grandchildren, he also leaves behind his loving sister-in-law: Linda Espinosa, nephew: Michael Espinosa, niece: Diane Wageman and nephew: Steven Cook. Don will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Bye Pop, we'll miss you.

Marc and Devvi, I didn't know your Pop but heard the wonderful stories of a great man he was and his sweet wife Alice. Those cherished memories will continue on through the generations. Always know they are here in spirit.

Marc: Now i know why you have always been the "The Marc of all trades"! What a great mentor you had. I imagine your dad also had one heck of a sense of humor too. Keep him alive in your memory and with all the fun stories I know you must have.
