Dorothy Studer Obituary

Dorothy Colleen Studer
Dorothy Colleen Studer passed away peacefully by her husband's side on April 26, 2022. She was born in Redding, CA on June 9, 1941, to A.W. "Joe" and Marge Hislop. Dorothy completed her elementary and secondary education in Redding. She was a proud alumnus of the Shasta High School class of 1959. In school, she was very active in band, student government and cheerleading. It was during this time she met her future husband, Lyle Studer. They began their 62 years of marriage on June 7, 1959.
Dorothy's excellent bookkeeping skills kept her happily employed for 45 years. The family transferred to Madera, CA, San Luis Obispo, CA, and lastly Healdsburg, CA due to Lyle's management work with J.C. Penney's. She worked as a bookkeeper at the Redding and Madera School Districts. In San Luis Obispo, she was an office manager for Hill's Stationary Store. During that time, she earned her Real Estate License but found bookkeeping was her true calling. In Healdsburg, she enjoyed many years as a bookkeeper at Stroco Paving. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Raymond Burr Vineyards. Dorothy went on to open her own bookkeeping business working with many different small business contractors from her home. She then was offered the job of bookkeeper at A. Rafanelli Winery. It was the perfect place to close out her bookkeeping career.
Dorothy always enjoyed volunteering and increased that effort after her retirement. She was a founding Board Member and longtime Treasurer of the Healdsburg Greyhound Booster Club. Dorothy ran the clock for over twenty years at the Healdsburg High Girls and Boys Basketball games. In addition, she volunteered her time with the food pantry, graduation celebration, and the senior center. Lastly, she weekly volunteered in Ms. Sanderson's class at Fitch Mountain School. For her efforts, Dorothy was awarded the Marie Sparks Memorial Volunteer award in 2009 given by the community of Healdsburg.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Lyle, her adored son Dean (Teri) Studer of Healdsburg, CA, adored daughter Tracie (Steven) Barrow of Cloverdale, CA. She leaves behind her precious grandchildren: Kodi (Brendan) O'Dwyer of Petaluma, CA, Kaylon (Paige) Studer of Mountain View, HI, Matthew (Emilie) Barrow of Santa Rosa, CA and Cera (Eli Marrone) Barrow of Seattle, WA. She was also richly blessed with her great grandchildren Kieran O'Dwyer, Hannah O'Dwyer and Maya Barrow. She leaves behind her adored sister Norma Haner from Redding, California as well many nieces and nephews she deeply loved. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Kay Oliver.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed as well as never forgotten.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Greyhound Boosters, P.O. Box 401, Healdsburg, CA 95448.

You will be missed by more than your family. You were loved by many. You dedicated your time to people in your community for many years. More than I can comprehend myself ever doing.
Love you......

I am sad to read of Dorothy's passing, she was an amazing lady. I met her when she came to work for Schram Construction..... she was a very pleasant addition to our office, always smiling and had such a great sense of humor. My thoughts are with all of her family and friends. RIP sweet Dorothy

I happened, by chance, to see your obituary and was shocked this morning. Even though we have not seen one another for over 40 years, at the 20th reunion, I have enjoyed our email correspondence. I remember how you helped me in Algebra 1, as History and English were my passion and not math. You life has been rich and full May you find eternal peace with our Lord. I remain as always, Barbara Lightfoot Zamboni
