Edward Louis Petroka
Ed Petroka, a resident of Santa Rosa for the last 40 years, died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on November 27th, 2022. Ed was born on August 25th, 1929 into a large and loving family in Rumford, Maine. After graduating from High School in Connecticut, he enlisted into the Navy shortly before the Korean war, with the intent of attending college on the GI bill. Ed actually attended three colleges, culminating with a master's degree in electronic engineering, which enabled him employment within the high-tech sector of a then newly developing 'Silicon Valley'. Always an avid skier and golfer, he did both during his long retirement, well into his 90's. He was a member of the Windsor Golf Club, The Santa Rosa Druids, the Santa Rosa Ski Club and the Santa Rosa SIR. He and his wife Ruth loved travelling to just about any destination that had a golf course, a winery, or a ski resort!
Ed is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Synthia, son-in-law Terry, and many relatives from both sides of his family.
As were his final wishes, he directed his daughter Synthia, a very capable sailor, to scatter his ashes off the California coast near the Farallon Islands.
His celebration of life will be held at The Windsor Golf Club on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 from noon to 3 p.m. at Charlie's.
