Elizabeth Watson Obituary

Elizabeth Grace Randel Watson
December 12, 1957 - October 5, 2025
Liz was born to Worth and Alma Randel in West Point, NE, the youngest of four children. After spending an idyllic childhood in West Point, she attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln to earn her Master's degree in speech and language pathology. After the completion of her studies, she worked in Wahoo, NE and then ventured to Southern California where she met lifelong friends and her future husband, Dave.
After enjoying their time in Pasadena, job opportunities led them to Santa Rosa, CA. This is where her daughter was born, Ellen Louisa, in 1993. Liz reveled in her life as a mother and took pride in all her milestones. It was also here that she used her training to help many families of the Sonoma County school districts that she taught at for over 30 years. The help that she provided to local families earned her county-wide recognition among her peers and those she assisted. Her devotion to her work earned her many awards and honors, making her a sought-after teacher.
To match her incredible work accomplishments, Liz is also remembered as a loving wife, caring mother, and steadfast friend. As a true Nebraska native, she was a pragmatic woman who was always prompt with a sensible answer or poignant advice. Her free time was spent devouring mystery novels and weekend outings with her family.
Though her retirement was only a few years, she certainly made the most of it by enjoying golfing, bowling, taking long walks with her dog, Hugo, and visiting her daughter amid her travels. Liz is survived by her husband, Dave; daughter, Ellen Watson; son-in-law, Chris Clark; sister, Karen Welding; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Deb Randel; sister, and brother-in-law, Connie and Dale Going; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth may be gone now but she'll forever have a place in all the lives she touched, both professionally and for everyone in her family and friend circle.

I had the privilege of working with Liz. We were fellow speech and language pathologists. She was a blessing to many children and families. She will be missed.
