Helen Cunningham passed away peacefully on February 5, 2022, at Alma Via. Born September 10, 1926 in Illinois, her sensibility and thriftiness grew from her experiences during the Depression. She began her journey on the wings of a job with United Airlines; first in Cheyenne and then across the skies of America as a stewardess. It was while flying out of SFO in the early '50s that she met her husband Jack. Some of her most cherished memories came from family trips to Yosemite, hiking on the trails in the high country and celebrating the breathtaking views. She and Jack built a house at Tahoe that provided a base for many gatherings over 55 years. She loved spending time crafting during the winter while her family was out skiing, greeting them with hot appetizers when they came home. Summer times she enjoyed sitting on the beach at Chamberlands admiring beautiful Lake Tahoe. Known affectionately by many as "Cookie", she excelled as a homemaker during the '60s when such delicious food dishes as "Mom's Egg and Cheese Thing" were crafted. Her children still cherish her many recipes and will forever savor her memory when they are prepared. Returning to work in the '70s, she honed her excellent typing skills and worked for the San Rafael City Schools. She retired her typewriter and she and Jack moved to Oakmont in Santa Rosa. In their 20 years in Oakmont they made great friends and enjoyed a lively social life. She and Jack traveled extensively in US and Europe, with Switzerland as her favorite place. Well into her 90s Helen was an avid walker. Celebrating her 90th year with a hike to Lower Yosemite Falls – she could still do it! She remained sharp by doing daily crossword puzzles and playing bridge with wonderful group of ladies in Oakmont. She is survived by her son John Cunningham (Maria) and daughter Mimi Cunningham and her five grandchildren: Lauran, Phillip, Jackie, Johnny and Danny. She has now joined husband Jack Cunningham and son Michael in eternal peace.
