GREER, Hertha "Rae" Hertha Greer, also known as "Rae" (Rabold) Greer died on April 11, 2016 in Santa Rosa, CA at the age of 95. Rae is survived by her loving husband, Theodore Greer (Ted); children, Cindy Greer, Marilyn Greer, and Laurel (Laurie) Greer Avey; siblings, Adeline Schult of Banning, CA and Roger Rabold of Enid, OK. Rae (Hertha) was born on December 14, 1920 to August and Bertha Rabold, in Johannesburg, East Prussia, now part of Poland. She graduated from Mounds Midway School of Nursing in the early 1940's and became a Registered Nurse in the Army Air Corps. She married Theodore Roosevelt Greer (Ted), a pilot in the then, Army Air Corps in 1947. During the 24 years that Ted was in the Air Force, they lived in various locations, including Japan (where they welcomed their first daughter, Cindy), New York (where they welcomed their second daughter, Marilyn), Colorado, California (where they welcomed their third daughter, Laurie), and Florida. After Ted retired from the Air Force, they moved to Cupertino, California, where they continued to raise their three girls. They eventually spent their years of retirement in Windsor, California, having many years together there, sharing their life with friends, family, and enjoying their many travels. In 2012, Ted and Rae moved to Spring Lake Village in Santa Rosa, California. Rae was always working on a project. She was accomplished at sewing, crocheting, knitting, and baking. She enjoyed playing bridge and reading, having a special interest in history. She was passionate about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, her friends, and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. She was an active and dedicated member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Santa Rosa and often volunteered at the Community Hospital in Santa Rosa, the Food Pantry, knitting for babies and charity bazaars. Her husband and children remember her as a godly woman, full of humility, grace, kindness, and love. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, April 17th at 3:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Pastor Brian Claussen will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rae's life. In lieu of flowers, to honor Rae, please send any donations to a
charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to Ted Greer's email:
