Jeanne Paul Obituary

PAUL, Jeanne Ellen Born January 2, 1931 passed away May 4, 2005 at the age of 74. She was born in Ukiah, CA to Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Babcock. Wife of the late Robert Allen Paul, Jean is survived by 3 children, Larry, Linda and Lance Wright, 4 grandchildren, Andrea Casey, Ashley Dellarocca, Kyle Wright and Randy Wright and 1 great grandchild Gavin Casey, as well as 2 sisters Irene Locatelli and Patricia Moyer as well as many nieces and nephews. In 1949 at the age of 19 Jean began her career in the lumber and logging business working in the office of S & O Lumber Co. in Calpella. In 1952 she married Les Wright and together they had three children. They purchased Philo Lumber Company and over the next 10 plus years they provided a viable income to many that lived in the Anderson Valley. Jean was known and admired in the Valley for throwing the annual Christmas and Halloween Balls. Her dedication and quick wit made her a revered leader. In 1972 she married the man best suited to her and the love of her life, Robert Paul. She moved her family to Santa Rosa and bought a home in Wikiup. Here she fought as hard for her husband's life as she did her own standing with him through two open heart surgeries. Together they enjoyed entertaining and hosting holidays, always including their ex's and their new spouses and families. Jean was also competitive; she loved to watch sports and was a fierce pool shooter. She touched the hearts of everyone she met. This special lady, to whom she was often known as "Rabbit", fought 13 years with a disease known as Alzheimer's. A cruel twist of fate took away such an intelligent and sharp minded person. Many have mourned her absence and are thankful she is finally free of her disease. To celebrate Jean there will be a service in her honor held at 1:00 on May 14 at the Eggen & Lance Mortuary. Inurnment will be private at Chapel of the Chimes next to Robert Paul. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Foundation, toll free at 866-232-8484.
