This painting is hanging in my living room. John used to joke that it was him in the painting because of the red beard. It is almost a daily reminder of his good humor.

John was a good friend at UC Davis, where we had engineering classes together and shared extra-curricular activities. He had strong opinions way back then also. His hair really was red.
