John Sikes Obituary

Born March 20, 1930, passed away in his sleep July 29, 2011 at his daughters' home in Napa, CA. He lived in New Mexico in his youth, until he moved to Crockett, CA John was an athlete in his youth. He excelled at football, basketball and was a competitive swimmer. He was an avid football fan all of his life. John served in the US Marines stateside during the Korean War. He retired from H.P. as a gardener and went onto help create a successful garden at the Vets home in Yountville. John was very charismatic and handsome with his piercing blue eyes and dark tanned skin; he made many long lasting friendships everywhere he went. He was a simple man with a very big heart and his family was very important to him. He will be sorely missed. John is survived by his sweet, loyal and loving companion, Gwen Sikes, his children Craig, Gerry and Susie and grandchildren, Jacob, Kevin, Marissa, Leah, Alicia, Trevor, Krista, Steven, Hunter and Jordan and his great grandchildren Kayla, Jayden, Shane. Privately held services for family will be held September 18, 2011.

Craig and family, My thoughts and prayers are with you all. My mother, Fern Roulain, (Higuera) went to John Swett with your dad. She would always smile when she spoke of "walking home with "Johnny" Sikes. He was such a handsome guy..... always nice and polite."
I'm sure he and all of his old friends from Rodeo and Crockett are going to have one big re-union and wild party. Go Indians!!!
