Joseph Gilmore Obituary

GILMORE, Joseph D. - Born in Goldendale, Washington in 1923, he passed away at his home in Santa Rosa , CA on March 11, 2007 in the comforting presence of his family. After serving in the U..S. Army in WWII Joe earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He then worked at a farm machinery and irrigation company in Parma , Idaho until he and his family moved to Petaluma, CA where they lived for the next 41 years. Joe accomplished many things from building kayaks with his sons for their local Boy Scout troop, to designing the hydraulics for fighter plane elevators on nuclear aircraft carriers. He worked until retirement as a self employed consulting engineer, afterwards enjoying his terms on the Board of Directors for the Singing Woods Association at Oakmont. He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Jean; sons James, Stephen, Keith and Phillip; daughters in law Patricia, Sallie and Pamela; grandchildren Emily, Peter and Kyle; and his brother Keith with his wife Ruth of Boise, Idaho. A memorial service for Joe will be announced at a later date.
