Joshua Cripps Obituary
October 3, 1977 - January 31, 2022
What words can we use to describe who Joshua was? We lost our beloved Joshua on Monday, January 31, 2022, and we are devastated. Joshua was a delight to all who knew him from the day he was born. He was very precocious, and loved to entertain from a very early age. We loved the performances he put on for the family in the living room. His sense of humor kept us laughing. His presence is still felt and the hole he has left in our lives can never be filled.
Joshua was extremely generous, kind, compassionate and tried to take care of his family, to the best of his ability. Those he loved, he loved deeply and passionately. He loved God,his family, friends, animals and music.
Joshua graduated from Rincon Valley Christian School, in 1995. He graduated with both an AA and an AS degree from Santa Rosa Junior College, having majored in the sciences, with an eye toward a degree in medicine. He earned his BA in Psychology from Sonoma State University.
He was principal trumpet in the Santa Rosa Youth Orchestra through both middle and high school, and earned many performance awards. With his friend, Judah Nagler, he formed a ska band, Tin Circus, in his high school years. Tin Circus proved to be such a popular band, that they were named the Best Band of NorCal in the 1990s. They have maintained a cult following in the intervening years.
Always entrepreneurial, he created and ran several businesses, but his favorite was as a DJ, especially for weddings! He was always in great demand, and was booked for the next two years! He loved creating memorable experiences for the happy couple.
Saying goodbye is unfathomable, but we know we will see him again one day, because our hope is in the promise of Heaven. We can't wait to see you again, our precious Josh.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Santa Rosa Bible Church, 4575 Badger Rd, Santa Rosa with Pastor Chris Bauer officiating. A reception will follow.

I was heartbroken to learn of Joshua´s passing just yesterday, even though he left us over two years ago. The news came as a shock, and I´m writing this with tears in my eyes, as I mourn the loss of my friend.
Joshua was a significant part of my life during our early 20s, and I have many fond memories of the times we spent together. He had an incredible ability to bring joy and laughter to those around him. For those of us who too often live by strict structure and thoughtful planning, the many beauties of life can be easily missed. Joshua had an incredible ability to pull people out of their shell and into beautiful situations. He did that for me, on many occasions. He lived fully and fearlessly, and I always found that sort of courage to be deeply inspiring.
For many years, I´ve imagined that one day I would move back to my hometown of Santa Rosa and reconnect with the great people from my past, Joshua being at the top of this list. My heart is broken to learn that this will never happen.
Rest in peace my beautiful friend.

I loved following Josh on all his adventures. He was a bright light to the world. He was a hit at Carrie´s "Things Aren´t Always What They Seem" birthday party MANY years ago. A bright light on earth, Joshua now raises his trumpet in the presence of the Light of the World.

Joshua was a candle lighter at my wedding in 1989. Jennifer, I remember that he was such a handsome young man and took his candle lighting job very seriously. He must have been just 11 or 12 I think. He did a great job along with Michael! He was so full of life, so extremely talented, and our family will always miss him.

I was blessed to have crossed paths with Joshua while working for the YMCA. He was kind enough to DJ at several of our events as well as delight our summer camp kids with his magic. I will always remember his beautiful spirit. May his family find peace and comfort in all of these special connections.

I am really upset to hear this. Though I don't know all of the details, I can say that Josh was one of the most uplifting, positive, and talented people I knew. Fond memories of playing trumpet with him in Prep. Orchestra and Junior Symphony as a teen. He had such a good range and style, was much better than myself I confess, and so talented. I knew he was going to be a great musician. I offer my complete condolences to the family. Had some great times as well in Karaoke, much later. He will be missed, that is for sure!
