Kathy Livie Hirzel

HIRZEL, Kathy Livie Wife of David Hirzel and daughter of William and Vestinia Livie of Petaluma, died peacefully at her home in Moss Beach August 28, 2002. She was known around Petaluma as "Livie", until her wedding to Steven Evans in 1970, when she moved to San Mateo County to raise a family. She retired from Cabrillo Unified School District there in 1997 after 16 years as a special education aide, and in the same year married David Hirzel. Their married life was cut short by a diagnosis in 2000 of inoperable cancer, which led, after a long and courageous battle, to her death in August. Throughout her ordeal, Kathy’s spirit never faltered. She is survived by her husband David Hirzel, son Ian William Evans, daughter Erin Marie Evans and granddaughter Victoria Leigh Evans, 3, whose dear face brought a smile to Grandma’s face in her hardest and darkest hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic Church at Half Moon Bay Monday, September 16 at 5:00 p.m.
