ALVAREZ, Lucy November 5, 1923 - January 13, 2016 With grace and dignity, Lucy left this Earth on December 13, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, to spend eternity with her waiting husband, Joe. She was 92 years old. Lucy was born in Niagara Falls, NY on November 5, 1923 to Eladio and Aqueda Caldas. She was predeceased by her sister, Anita Viveiros. As a young child, Lucy and her family moved to San Francisco, where she grew up as neighbors to Joe and his family. Lucy married Joe in 1945. Lucy is survived by her four children, Donna Rodriguez (Jess), Jim Alvarez, Marlene Thomas (Randy Crawford) and Andy Alvarez; six grandchildren, Tony, Jessica, Patrick, Brian, Casey and Ally; five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Bryan, Alanna, Carissa and Lilliana; her brother-in-law, Ray Alvarez; sisters-in-law, Irene Rosa and Pat Alvarez; and numerous nieces and nephews. We are forever grateful for her best friend and Guardian angel, Gretchen Black. At Lucy's request, there will be no formal services. Her remains will be placed with Joe's and scattered together at sea. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Hospice by the Bay or any Alzheimer's research organization of your choice.
