Marian "Tommie" Wahl

Marian Wahl Obituary

WAHL, Marian "Tommie" 55, of Cottonwood, CA, succumbed to cancer October 29, 2002 at Mercy Hospital in Redding, CA. Tommie was a resident of Petaluma for many years and as a single mom worked as a meat wrapper for Safeway, Roger Wilco and Albertson’s. Upon her marriage to her beloved Stephen, she stayed home to bring up her son Danny Wagner Wahl, who recently moved to Cottonwood to be with her, and her daughter Dana Merchant, who now lives with her husband in Michigan. Tommie loved learning new things and was always taking classes or lessons for something, for how to put in a sprinkling system, to karate, to dollmaking, china painting and quilt making and did them all well. She retired to Cottonwood with her husband in 1995 where they built and landscaped a home while spending many hours caring for hurt and orphaned deer in connection with the Wildlife Refuge. It proved to be a highlight of her life. In addition to Stephen, Danny and Dana, she leaves behind a stepdaughter Stephanie McCullough and her family all of Salyer, CA, her mother and stepfather Marcy and Bud Gamba of Penngrove, 2 sisters Sherry Smith of Casa Grande, AZ, Teresa Martin of Cotati, brother Matthew Gamba of Cotati, stepmother and dear friend Donna Lawson of Casa Grande, AZ, aunts who loved her like a sister, nieces, nephews and cousins whose lives she touched one way or another. She was courageous to the end and was more concerned about what she was putting others through. A memorial was held at her mother’s home with only family and a few friends, according to her wishes. We all loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.
