Maryann Michalowski Obituary
Maryann Margaret Michalowski, beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025 at her home of 40 years in Cazadero, CA.
She is survived by her two sons, Abraham Jordan (49) and Larkin Jormi (46); her beloved daughter-in-law, Kimberly, the cherished wife of her youngest son; and her two treasured granddaughters.
Maryann was born in Bangor, Maine, to Stanley and Ann Michalowski. She was the second of four sisters-Helen, Maryann, Kathreen, and Jane-of whom only Jane survives her.
Her early years were shaped by life on Air Force bases across the United States, where her father served as an Air Force plane mechanic.
While stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in Southern California, Maryann's academic talents were recognized with the All-Merit Scholarship for outstanding achievement in academics and standardized testing.
She also received federal grants and scholarships, which gave her the opportunity to attend any college of her choosing in the United States.
She pursued higher education at Sonoma State University, Santa Clara University, and the University of California, Berkeley, studying business, mathematics, and teaching.
Maryann spent the first half of her life as an entrepreneur, building successful ventures with determination and creativity.
In the second half, she became a beloved and trusted teacher, inspiring countless students in elementary and high schools throughout the Bay Area, from OMI in Oakland to Clear Lake High School in Lake County.
Maryann had a passion for gardening, enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, and maintained a lifelong interest in civic and political issues.
For the past 40 years, she called Cazadero, California home, where she found peace, beauty, and a community she truly loved.
Maryann's life was defined by her love, dedication, and unwavering spirit. She will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, students, and all whose lives she touched.
Thank you, Mom. You were my greatest teacher.
Blessings to you, Mom, in this life and the next.
