Michael Curran Obituary

Passed away in his sleep of melanoma on September 8, 2009 at the age of 55. Originally from San Mateo and a graduate from Aragon High School class of '71 Michael spent the last 20 years of his life enjoying his home among the redwoods of Rio Nido. He is now reunited with his parents Elvin and Alice, sister Donna, and brothers Gary and Terry. Michael is survived by his sister Denise and brother Gene. He was an exceptionally devoted single father to Melaine and grandfather to Zae; and a loving uncle to John, Kelly, and Allise. Having worked there for 26 years, Michael was known by many of his local friends as "PG&E Mike." Michael loved the outdoors, spending time with his grandson, and dancing, and was known for his humor and daring nature. He could often be found riding his bicycle backwards through the canyons of Rio Nido or doing flips off of rope swings. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial at the Rio Nido Roadhouse on Saturday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m.

I keep thinking I will wake up and it is a dream. Rio Nido was a better place because Michael was a hugh part of our community. The Curran family can be comforted in the fact that Michael rests in peace and he will never be forgotten by all of us that loved him.

I'm going to miss Michael. For years I would tell my friends stories about when I was a child and all the get-togethers my parents and their friends would have and with every story I would always mention the funny things Micheal would say to me. One story is when I was about 7 or so and I would be playing around with the other kids and I would look up at Michael and he would be looking at me with a serious face and say " GET A JOB!" That would aways make me laugh. There was another quote he was famous for to make us laugh and that was "did I ever tell you the story about when my dog died and my wife left me" He was such a great person I will always include him in the stories I tell. His soul will live on...
