Michael Rubin Obituary
September 17, 1946 - December 3, 2022
Michael David was born on September 17, 1946 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to the late Lester and Lydia Rubin. Predeceased by his younger sister, Michelle, his sisters-in-law, Christine, Renee and Eileen and goddaughter, Jesse.
He moved to San Francisco in 1964 where he graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Sociology.
Mike worked in retail most of his career starting in the family business Royal Liquors, before retiring at age 51 from Walgreens. Wanting to give back, he drove dialysis patients for Volunteer Wheels until his own kidneys failed. He received a donor kidney in 2011 which he was so grateful for.
He was introduced by his cousin, Betty to Sherry in 1969 and they were married in 1974. Together they created and raised Natalie and Steven. In addition to his wife and children, Mike leaves behind two beautiful, granddaughters, Izzie and Violet, his brother-in-law, Tim, daughter-in-law Merrilee "Mer"; two nieces, Jessica and Kim, two great nephews, Christian and Zoey, his goddaughters, Liza and Stephanie, and many cousins and close friends.
Services will be on Sunday, December 11 at 2pm at Home of Peace Cemetery, 1299 El Camino Real in Colma with a Chinese dinner following. In memory of Mike, please consider being an organ donor. For more information, please email Sherry at [email protected].
