Paul Lippman Obituary

LIPPMAN, Paul Died Friday, May 6, 2005 in Sonoma where he resided for the past seven years. Previously he lived in Santa Rosa since 1955 with his daughters and his first wife Anne Rose who died in 1997. He was born December 22, 1918 in New York City. Paul served in World War II as an officer in the US Army, and was awarded the Purple Heart and Croix de Guerre medals for his actions in France. Paul retired as Captain, (Inf.) in l946 at the Presidio of San Francisco. Paul graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Journalism and Economics. He worked four years as assistant editor for two Bay Area weekly newspapers before joining the Petaluma Argus Courier in 1956 as Sonoma County Courthouse Reporter. He left the Courier in 1966 to accept a position as deputy probation officer with the Sonoma County Probation Dept. He retired from the Probation Dept. in 1981. Paul was a member of the Purple Heart Assn. and the Military Officers Assn., and was a past member of Congregation Beth Ami and Congregation Shir Shalom, Sonoma. He is survived by his wife, Maria Gold-Lippman, daughters Maxine Terk, Barbara Schlumberger and Louise Barr, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, step children Kenneth Kronen, Tish Kronen-Gluck, and Fred Kronen, and five step grandchildren.
