Paul Wycoff Obituary
Paul Theodore Wycoff, Jr., 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Oakmont Village, Santa Rosa on November 7, 2025, after an extended illness.
Paul was born in Mission, Texas and spent his youth in Southern California, Chanute, Kansas and ultimately graduated high school in McAllen, Texas. He was an alumnus of Southern Methodist University and graduate of Pan American College with a degree in industrial arts education. He served honorably as a Staff Sergeant and Training Instructor in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He married Lynn Ellen Wycoff (nee Lockett) in 1957 and began a career in education teaching 6th grade in McAllen and then El Centro, California. In 1963 the family relocated to Napa, California where Paul began teaching woodshop and drafting at the secondary level before moving on to Napa County Schools administration and finally retiring in 1993 from the Napa County Schools Media Services Department.
Throughout his life, Paul's many interests, skills, talents and creativity led him to pursue numerous hobbies and commercial activities including wood crafting and carving, plant propagation, bonsai, landscape design, and geology. After retirement from education Paul and Lynn operated a successful screen-printing business (LP Screen Productions) for over a dozen years. Paul and Lynn also served for many years as the National Genealogists for the New York based Wyckoff House and Association, dedicated to cataloguing the relationships and entire history of the Wyckoff family in North America and preserving the original family home in New York City, built ca. 1652, the oldest standing structure in the state and the first registered landmark. After retiring to Oakmont, Paul continued to pursue many of his earlier interests while also taking up bocce, lawn bowling, Bridge groups and homeowner's association leadership.
Paul will be remembered for his cheerful willingness to lend a hand to others, his love of learning and creative pursuits, and his zest for life and good food.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Ellen, sons Greg and Palin, daughters-in-law Susan and Jess, grandchildren Heaven Moore, Teo Hix, Nico Wycoff, and Griffin Berkana, great grandson Eli Moore, sister Mary Ann, and brothers Rob and John.
A private celebration of Paul's life will be held at a later date.
