Randall HAYNES Obituary

HAYNES, Randall February 10, 1954 - October 17, 2015 Randall peacefully died October 17, 2015 with Wendy, his wife of 35 years, his sister, Carola Young, and his father, Ed Haynes, in attendance. Lovingly survived by his son, Kyle Haynes, and daughter, Meghan Haynes. His mother, Elizabeth Haynes, predeceased him in 2012. He also leaves behind his devoted mother-in-law, Mrs. Jewell Wood; brothers-in-law, Robert and Leland Wood, and their families. Also, his brother-in-law, Arthur Young and family. Randall was born February 10, 1954 at Travis Air Force Base, CA. Being part of the U.S. Air Force Family, he lived in various homes throughout the United States then the family settled in Santa Rosa, CA when his father retired. Randall graduated from Montgomery High School in 1974 and began his college education with Santa Rosa Junior College, where he met his future wife, Wendy. He received his bachelor degree in music with a teaching credential from San Francisco State University in 1979. Randall taught music in local schools for a number of years and at the same time marketed music instruments and service for a Gottschalks Music Center. Randall found his passion of baseball umpiring and attended Major League Umpires School in Phoenix, AZ then began a behind the plate career at the college level. Randall was selected by the now defunct Western Baseball League as a lead umpire. His hobbies also included shooting sports and brewing where he received several awards for his India pale ale. Randall joined the U.S. Post Office as a letter carrier in 1999 where he was injured on the job and retired from the postal service. Due to his injury, Randall spent his last years at Care Meridian in Fairfax, CA where he was faithfully cared for by the wonderful staff. Private family funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to your local youth baseball program. Santa Rosa Mortuary Eggen & Lance Chapel, 545-3747

I remember Mr Haynes well from SRJH ... He always kept his cool, even with a bunch of whiney preteen girls. Wendy, your support for him after his accident was an inspiration and a true testament to love. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.
