Robert Aaronson Obituary

Robert Hunter Aaronson
January 17, 1955 - December 12, 2023
Robert Aaronson died unexpectedly at 68 years old on December 12, 2023. He was born in New York on January 17, 1955, to Violet (Gellert) Aaronson and Allen Aaronson. He graduated from MIT and went on to graduate from Stanford Law School. He started his law career working for the San Francisco City Attorney's Office doing child abuse law. Later he moved to a litigation section of the City Attorney's Office. More recently, he worked as an independent police auditor for many years, until he retired in January 2022. He found his work very satisfying, especially in Santa Rosa where he was determined to help solve the difficulties faced by the homeless population, working closely with citizen activists.
He was dedicated to helping others and found it important to help improve the world. He loved learning and read extensively throughout his life. He was a collector of fountain pens, watches, and coins. He also loved music and spent some years as an avid motorcycle rider. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth Fitch Aaronson, and his three children, Pearl Aaronson, fka Michael Aaronson, David Aaronson, and Emily Aaronson.
Robert worked to defend the unhoused in his life, and his family would appreciate assistance to those efforts in his memory. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Santa Rosa, at https://www.srcharities.org/how-to-help/

Bob was one of the best teachers/mentors/lawyers I ever met and I am sorry to have just learned of his passing. I routinely refer to his Seven Biggest Mistakes/Seven Best Tips list personally and professionally.

Elizabeth and family,

My condolences on your loss. I just learned of Bob's death from the announcement of it in the Stanford Law School magazine I received yesterday. I was in Bob's law school class. I last talked with hm at an employment law conference around 2000. (We both practiced employment law.) He was a very good person and a pleasure to talk with.

Elizabeth, please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of Robert. You do not know me; I am Robert's freshman roommate and also his Stuyvesant High School classmate. I just saw the announcement in the Class of 76 newsgroup. We have lost touch since we graduated. It is always the sweetness of the memories of the time we spent together.
