Robert MOSCHIN Obituary

Robert (Bob) Moschin joined his loved ones in eternal rest on July 26, 2012. Born to Irving and Florence Moschin in Chicago, IL on April 14, 1932, Bob - "The Bear" - was an avid sportsman, never far from a baseball field. When he no longer played ball, "The Bear" was officiating, ushering for the High Desert Mavericks and writing about baseball. Bob was thrilled when he was asked to announce several games at the beautiful Borman Field at his home at the Veteran's Home in Yountville CA. Bob announced his last game shortly after his 80th birthday this year. Bob was also passionate about his service in the Marine Corps during the Korean War (1952-1954) and enjoyed the camaraderie he shared with fellow veterans of the High Desert Marines in Victorville CA and the great friends he made at the Veteran's Home in Yountville who fondly called him "Baseball Bob". Bob was loved by his family and many friends and will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of baseball, his love of the Marine Corps, his love of fishing, and as a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Bob is survived by his first wife and mother of his four beloved sons, Elayne Moschin; son Steven Moschin (Micki), son Gary Moschin, son Jeffrey Moschin (Moria), and son David Moschin. Bob is also survived by his second wife, Pearl and daughter Barbara Finley (Tim) and Dale Warren, Craig Warren, Ken Warren, and Roger Warren. Bob also leaves behind numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Veteran's Home in Yountville and to Hospice of Napa Valley for their wonderful care and support. Interment will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on August 2, 2012 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Napa Valley or to a little league team of your choice. I have many fond memories of Bob and I am happy that he was able to enjoy the Veteran's Home in Yountville. He added a lot to those at the home. I will remember the last time I spent with him at the home, and his warmth and enthusiasm. I know that he will be greatly missed.

Papa Bear, my dear father-in-law, you live now in my memories as you have always been in my heart. It has been a joy to keep the comandment “Honor thy father and mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your G-D is giving you.” Always I will honor you.
