Stanley MacIsaac Obituary

Stanley A. Mac Isaac
February 3, 2025
Retired Santa Rosa P.D. Peace Officer Stanley Alexander Mac Isaac of Boston, MA, and longtime resident of Santa Rosa, CA, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones on February 3, 2025, after courageously fighting through serious health challenges.

Working as a bag boy to pay his tuition and hitchhiking as his mode of transportation, Stan graduated from Lawrence Catholic High School in MA. He valued education greatly and later attended San Francisco City College and San Jose State University graduating in 1974 with a B.S. in Criminal Justice Administration. Afterward, he always encouraged others to further their education.

After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy from 1960 to 1964. He attended basic training at Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois and was assigned to two destroyers while carrying out his duties as a Signalman. Later he served in the Coast Guard Reserves.

Stan worked at the US Mint in San Francisco until becoming a peace officer in San Mateo, CA, in 1967. In 1974, he and his family moved to Massachusetts where he worked for the campus police of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology until 1981. He then returned to San Mateo and transferred to Santa Rosa P.D. in 1982, at the recommendation of friend and fellow peace officer Gary Kinser, where he worked until retirement in 1998.

While a peace officer, Stan was an association member in San Mateo, CA. Despite the fear of being terminated, at M.I.T. he founded an association to represent campus police officers. As a member of the S.R. Police Officers Association, he was active in executive positions and respected as the oldest member of their Blue Knights football team. He competed in numerous smash up auto derbies at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, winning one in a yellow Cadillac and dressing in a chicken suit for the pre-event festivities.

In addition to his service to his communities as a peace officer, he served in the Knights of Columbus, instructed catechism in MA, and coached Little League baseball. While his teams in Billerica, MA, and Rincon Valley (in Santa Rosa) never won the "big one," he earned the nickname, Second Place Mac Isaac. He touched numerous lives in many ways and manners, informal and formal.

Stanley met Nancy Anderson at a Navy dance in San Francisco in 1962 and were married from 1965 until 1976. They had three children: Matthew, John, and Sandra. Stan and Nancy remarried in 1990, thus, becoming a stepfather to Diana Cavanaugh. Later in life, he married Patricia (Boles) Mac Isaac in 2005 until his death. Patty went to heroic levels keeping her promise to care for him through significant health issues. He loved, appreciated, and admired her greatly.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents Archie and Sadie Mac Isaac; his sisters, Judy Radocckia and Edna Mac Isaac; as well as many beloved extended family members and friends. Stan was a proud grandfather to his grandsons, Andrew and Morgan, from his daughter Sandra and her husband, Joey Oliva. He also leaves behind his sisters Susan Nelson, Marna Shultz, and Sally Mac Isaac; stepchildren Shelley Robertson, Cheryl Berti, and Dave Biane; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and step grandchildren.

Stan leaves behind a legacy of dedication, courage, dignity, and unwavering perseverance. He looked forward to joining his late son, John, in heaven whom he greatly missed since 1993 and shared a birthday with. He was a kind, jovial, stubborn, hardworking, loyal, methodical man who loved his family, friends, community, watching the Red Sox, and eating spaghetti with ketchup while drinking a Pepsi.

A funeral mass will occur on Thursday, February 27th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church, 398 10th Street, Santa Rosa, CA. St. Rose Church's hall will be open for guests immediately following the mass while the family attends an internment service. Light refreshments will be provided. The celebration of life will begin once the family returns from the internment. Memorial donations may be made to Rincon Valley Little League, P.O. Box 2523 Santa Rosa, CA 95405.

exciting conversation. I plan on being there for the service.

We were fortunate to have Stan and Patti as neighbors while they lived in Cottonwood. We all had fun at Stan and Patti´s get togethers. Stan had a great sense of humor. We loved spending time with you both. And missed you both after you moved to Santa Rosa. Just know we have nothing but fond memories of our times together whether having pizza or visiting. We can´t thank you enough for letting us buy your tractor. We think of Stan every time we use it. Patti and family Ron and I are saddened for the loss of such a great man. Peace be with you. Ron and Diane

To one of the kindest guys I´ve known. It was always enjoyable seeing you over the years. Thanks for trying to turn me on to ketchup sandwiches, ketchup on eggs, ketchup on mashed potatoes, and many other uses of ketchup. Simply, the Ketchup King. You´ll be missed down here. But I´m sure you´re enjoying a cup of tea now up there
