Suzanne J. Capella - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Sue, passed on July 27, 2025, after a long and happy life. Sue was born in St. Paul, MN, but in her youth came to California with her family. After their subsequent move to Petaluma, she soon met her future husband Richard "Riccardo" Capella and started a family. Sue raised three sons with Riccardo in Petaluma. Loving the mountains, the family moved to Lake Tahoe in 1984. After Riccardo passed on September 17, 2009, Sue returned to Petaluma to continue to pursue her many activities such as singing with choir groups, violin and viola playing, and engaging with friends and family.
Sue is survived by sons, Richard (Lisa), Gregory, and Mark (Meredith); grandchildren, Eric (Diana), Justin, John (Andrea), Jennifer (Todd), Elliot (Hannah), Christopher (Lexy), Sean, Nicholas, Fonzo (Michelle), Brittney (Ryley), Makenzie (Nick), and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Sue will always remain a strong and inspiring example to her loved ones and friends and is sealed in our hearts forever.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on August 4th at 12:30 pm at St Vincent de Paul church, Petaluma with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 3rd from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, Petaluma with a Vigil celebrated at 5:00 pm.
