William "Bill" ATKINSON

Entered into rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in Healdsburg. Bill was the dearly beloved husband of the late Alice "Ernestine" Atkinson for 47 years; beloved father of Marilyn Petersen and her husband Chris, Diana Duran and her husband Renny; adored grandfather of Jakob Petersen, Mikkel Petersen, and Orion Sands (also Bill's caregiver and companion), Shelly Rechin and her husband Mark, Rachel Duran, Katrina Johnston and her husband Marlow; "GGP" to Lucy and Boedy Rechin; brother of Leila Lownes, and "Uncle Bill" to numerous nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong resident of Healdsburg, and worked for the City of Healdsburg for 47 years before retiring. He was a past member of the Healdsburg Volunteer Fire Department, and Reserve Deputy Sheriff of Sonoma County. Bill was a member of various orders of the Masonic Lodge and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was 79 years old. Private interment services were held on Saturday, October 12, 2013, with Pastor Warren Hayes of Alexander Valley Community Fellowship officiating. If desired, donations may be made to UCSF Pediatric Care Unit, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, or Shriner's Hospital for Children, in his memory.
