William Domenichelli Obituary

William 'Bill' Wayne Domenichelli
At age 71 William Domenichelli died surrounded by family and friends after a sudden illness Thursday, February 1, 2024, in Healdsburg CA
Survived by his wife Patty, children Stephanie (Garrett) Setzer and Dan (Tina) Domenichelli and his grandchildren Sam and Jack Setzer; brothers Ray (Linda), Joe (Kris) and Tom Domenichelli and sisters Valerie (Scott) McIntosh and Gina (Jeff) Illingworth; sister-in-law Carolyn Domenichelli and brothers-in-law Jerry (Joanna), Dick (Jackie) and Lee (Joann) Engelke; nieces Netti (Brent Gregoire) Domenichelli, Andi (Tony) Rosales, Carrie Zanolini, Kathy (Dylan) Marzullo, Kristina (Mark) Miller, Amy (Beto) Cortes, Rachel (Ken) Hansen, Rebekah Valles, Danielle (Malcolm Richards) Domenichelli, Mary (Bill) Maskell, and Jessica, Kayleigh, and Deanna Domenichelli, Brandi (JP) Lacampagne and Becky (James) Piazza; and nephews Erik Nellessen, and Matt, Mark and John Domenichelli, Rich (Suzi), Chip (Lisa), Jim (Suzy) and Gary (Kara) Engelke, and 34 great nieces and nephews and 5 great-great nephews. Predeceased by his son Samuel, brother Stan and sister Renee Domenichelli and great nephew William Landrum, Jr.
Bill was born in Sonoma, CA to Gene and Dolly (née Chelini) Domenichelli, the third of eight children. He was raised in Sonoma until the family moved to Healdsburg to a prune ranch. At Healdsburg Junior High, he met Patty Engelke; they graduated together from Healdsburg High School. An accomplished athlete, Bill played football, basketball and baseball and was awarded the Greyhound Award in his senior year, the top athletic award for HHS. A few years later, they married while attending Santa Rosa Junior College and Humboldt State University. They moved back to Sonoma County and Bill began working full time for his father's masonry construction company, Domenichelli Masonry, alongside his brother Stan. In later years, he enjoyed teaching the business and working with his children, Stephanie and Dan.
As he built his business and raised his family with Patty, he became more involved in the community. He coached Pop Warner and Little League. He volunteered in many local organizations including the American Cancer Society's local Relays for Life as well as others, fundraising for his children's schools and activities and providing masonry services for projects at St John's School and Church, the City of Healdsburg, the Healdsburg Museum and more. He was a Life Member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and member of the Redwood Chapter Committee for over a decade.
He loved the outdoors, camping, waterskiing, boating, fishing, and most of all hunting. Every year during the local deer hunting season, he could be found on his family's hunting club property, and he loved sharing it with his son Dan and his grandsons, Sam and Jack.
Bill was a devoted husband to Patty for almost 51 years. They celebrated their 50th anniversary last year with a family party his children hosted on their ranch property. He was also a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, cousin, and friend who will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Healdsburg High School Boosters (238 Theresa Ct, Healdsburg CA 95448), the Windsor High School Athletics - Swim Team (8695 Windsor Rd, Windsor CA 95492) or to your favorite charity. Funeral services will be held at St John's Catholic Church in Healdsburg on Friday, February 23 at 11 am. Reception to follow at St John's School Gymnasium. A rosary will be held at the Church from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2024.

Dear Patty and family. I'm so sorry for your loss. Bill was an exceptional man. Although I hadn't seen him since we were teenagers l knew he would be successful in life and loved by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. The last time I saw him was in 1971. We spent the day deer hunting in Alexander Valley. Had a great day and that's how I will always remember him.

With heartfelt condolences.
