Betty Clark Obituary

On March 29, 2021, Betty Clark, 87, surrounded by family, went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Betty was born on December 29, 1933 in Mattoon, Illinois to parents Glen and Cora McGaughey and was the eighth child of ten. Growing up, her father worked for the railroad moving the family to Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Arizona. In the late 40's Betty's family moved to Perris, California where her father, also a master carpenter, and brothers built their first home. In 1949, Betty, while playing softball, met Robert Clark (Bob), a soldier in the U.S. Air Force. It was love at first sight. They married on January 26, 1950, at the Methodist Church in Lake Elsinore, CA. After being stationed throughout the country, the family returned to Perris in 1963 and bought a home. Betty accepted a temporary position as an instructional aide in the Head Start Program at Perris Elementary School and loved working with the children. She retired eleven years later. Betty and Bob were married for sixty-seven years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always wanting the best for everyone. Her love was unconditional, her smile contagious, and her personality was charismatic. She loved family gatherings and was genuinely interested in hearing about what everyone was doing. Betty's hobbies included oil painting, cooking and baking, embroidering, and gardening. Betty was preceded in death by husband, Robert Clark; parents, Glen and Cora McGaughey; four brothers, Glen, Ray, John and James McGaughey; five sisters, Cora O'Connor, Margaret Clausen, Joanne Spence, Nancy Bergren, and Sandra Sherman; sons-in-law, Newell Ralphs and Ricky Montgomery. She is survived by four daughters; Patricia Ralphs, Bobbie (Frederick) Traver of Riverside, Linda Montgomery, Debbie Guilkey (Dennis Stanek), and two sons, Robert (Wendy) Clark, and James (Mary) Clark, of Hemet; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great- grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Betty will be extremely missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I remember you working with me and helping me at the snack counter at the auction Sundays. Think about our time together, often.

I treasure the many memories I gained with her in Perris. She was a good teacher, patient, understanding, and loving. Always a good listener. She has been missed and will continue to be in my heart.

I picture her raising heck with her mischievous brothers and sisters. The family has rejoined again and complete.

Thank you for sharing her background. So much I didn't know about my aunt. She was absolutely beautiful!

My thoughts, prayers, are with all the family. Xoxoxoxo!

To the best Mother a daughter could have. I love you very much Mom and I will miss you forever. You and Dad were inspirations to all of your children, grandchildren and many others. You were both always there for all of us. Now you are re-united with Dad in heaven and will be forever happy and healthy. Rest in peace. Until we meet again.
