Herbert C. Gore

1920 - 2016

HERBERT C. GORE Herbert C. Gore was born October 16, 1920. He passed peacefully at home in Riverside, CA on May 16, 2016. He was affectionately known as Popeye. He had been looking forward to being reunited with his wife of 66 years Vivian, who passed in 2013. He was also preceded in death by his mother Florence Gore, brother Leroy Glidden, his sister-in-law Lucille Walker, daughters-in-law Ann Gore & Ellen Gore and grandson John Alden Gore. Popeye was a Veteran of WWII, Korea & Vietnam. At the time of his retirement from the U.S. Air Force he had achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel, had flown 85 combat missions and among numerous medals he received the Bronze Star with "V" Device for Valor while serving in Vietnam. The honor of serving was also shared by 2 of his sons in Vietnam. A True "HERO" and "PATRIOT" for his family and his country. Popeye and Vivian were very active in The Order of Eastern Star for over 40 years, primarily in Chowchilla, CA, before moving back to Riverside to be closer to family. Popeye is survived by 3 sons, John (Charlotte) Gore, Robert Gore, and James (Shelly) Gore; grandchildren Jason (Jessica) Gore, Kym (Mark) Bauman and Seth Gore; and great grandchildren Ashley & Hailey (Gore), Kyndal (Arnold), Ashley (Seebold), Elly (Parsons) and Luke (Bauman).
