Patrick Cooney Obituary

PATRICK COONEY was born in Pasadena, California on December 27, 1941 and died in Riverside, California on January 8, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna; his son Kevin, and grandson Diego. Patrick worked for the California Air National Guard for 35 years from 1963 until December 1998, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. After retirement, he worked as a campground host outside of Mammoth Lakes for 7 years. Pat enjoyed the outdoors having climbed Mt. Whitney more than once and having run several marathons. In 2005 Pat and Donna moved to Montana where he could enjoy his favorite hobbies of fly fishing and photography. He was a Diamond Star Exhibitor (the highest honor) of the Photographic Society of America and served as a judge at several exhibitions. As a fly fisherman, he tied his own flies, built his own fly rod, and even had a cork fly named after him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the Chapel at The Grove Community Church, 19900 Grove Community Dr., Riverside, CA at 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to LifeStream Blood Bank (where Patrick was a 35+ gallon donor) or to Vitas Hospice of Riverside or to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston in support of the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases.

Donna, Kevin,

Since our relocation, we have become lesser and lesser connected at Riverside. We are saddened by the news of Pat's passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

At moment like such, it brought back moments of the past – watching kids playing AYSO soccer, Donna's house warming parties, listening to Pat camping and fishing stories ………
