TITO LOPEZ GOMEZ Tito valiantly battled brain cancer and now has seen Jesus face to face! He was an 11 year resident of Corona where he passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2007. Tito Gomez was born on June 19, 1962, in Fallbrook, CA. He was raised in Fallbrook and graduated from Fallbrook High School in 1980. Tito loved to play baseball as an infielder and played Little League and high school baseball. He joined an Adult Basebal League and traveled all over Baja California. Tito also played golf from time to time; however, it never took the place of playing baseball. Tito received his AA degree from Palomar College in 1983. Before becoming an Officer with the CHP, Tito was a state licensed electrician. On November 5, 1990, Tito entered the California Highway Patrol Academy. Upon graduation, he was assigned to road patrol duties at the West Los Angeles CHP Area office on March 28, 1991. Tito met his wife Lorena in 1991 and they were married the following year. On February 1, 1994, Tito was assigned to the CHP's Southern Division office after being selected for the Public Affairs Officer position. His duties included providing morning traffic news reports for Spanish television stations, such as Telemundo, recruitment officer, and coordinator for the El Protector Program. On January 1, 2001, Tito transferred to the Riverside Area office and was assigned to road patrol duties. He enjoyed working the road and was always willing to help his fellow officer and provide service to the public. Tito's last assignment was as the Area Training Coordinator. Tito had a very distinguished career that spanned 17 years. The highlight of Tito's life was in 2003 when his daughter Samantha was born. Tito was a devoted husband, proud father, loving son, brother, uncle, and an overall great person. Tito is survived by his wife Lorena, daughter Samantha, mother Josephina, sister Martha, four brothers, Cesario, Fernando, Ismael, Rivas, Grandmother Maria Cruz and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. His family would also like to thank his caretakers Mr. Willie, Mr. Roy and Ms. Aida. He is preceded in death by his father Cesario Gomez. Tito was a great Officer. He was highly respected and will continue to have a great influence on his peers. He will truly be missed and will never be forgotten. Tito's life will be celebrated at South Hills Church, 2585 South Main Street in Corona on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 11:00 am. Burial to follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Riverside.
