Warren Rix Obituary

RIX, JR., WARREN EDWARD "ED" Passed away September 27, 2006 in Riverside, CA. at the age of 72 years. Born in Cresco, Iowa December 11, 1933. He has lived in Riverside for 37 years since retiring from the U.S. Airforce as a TSGT. He served his country from 1952 till 1972 during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He met the love of his life, Ellen Hildmann, when stationed in Germany and married her May of 1956 in Germany. Together they raised two children. After retiring from the Airforce he purchased two McDonald franchises in Riverside, one on Magnolia Ave. and Hole, the other on VanBuren and Limonite. He was owner operator of these restaurants for 25 years before again retiring. For the last 8 years he again came out of retirement to work with his son at Postal Depot on Van Buren. Warren donated recliners to the children's intensive care unit prior to the inception of the Ronald McDonald House which he was instrumental in getting started and opened. Mr. Rix loved to travel and RVing, playing horseshoes, golf, camping, leather working, piloting planes, he was the pit crew for his son's race cars, making stained glass, softball, fast pitch and was on many bowling leagues. Mr. Rix is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen. Loving father of Peggy Crowley and Michael Rix, and father-in-law to Alicia Rix. Devoted grandfather "OPI" to Christopher, Starla, Ellie, Taylor and Mikey. Friends may call Sun., Oct. 1, 2006 from 5-8pm in Akes Family's "Chapel Of The Chimes". The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 11am and The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Mon., Oct. 2, 2006 in San Secondo d' Asti Catholic Church, 250 N. Turner Ave., Guasti, CA. Interment will follow in Riverside National Cemetery. The family requests donations to be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda, CA. My deepest sympathies to Ellen, Peggy and Mike and the rest of the family. Ed was a great man and I am honored to have know him. I have many great memories of Ed through the years and will cherish then always. He may be gone but will never be forgotten.
