CHESTER, ABNER III (BEAVER) - of Atlantic City, went home to be with the Lord on January 09, 2010. "Beaver" as he was affectionately called by many was born to the late Abner Chester and Evelyn Thornton-Chester on December 22, 1952 in Philadelphia, PA. He was educated in the Philadelphia Catholic School System, and shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the Armed Forces as a Marine where he served faithfully receiving an honorable discharge. Shortly after serving in the military he began a career with Local 623 as a carpenter for 30 years, where he helped build most of the casions in the city. He retired in May 2009. Abner was a member of The American Legion, Kenneth Hawkins, Post 61 of Atlantic City . He loved building things, assembling model cars, cooking, dancing, partying, traveling, helping the kids repair their bikes, and spending quality time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren. He loved to hang out his flags on various occasions where flags commemorated the different days. He was a wonderful fun - loving guy. "To know him was to love him." He will be sadly by his wife Audrey Adkins-Chester, his daughter Nicole Chester of Absecon; step children Troy Gibson (Candy), Adam Williams and Andre'lyn Williams both of Atlantic City, grandchildren Troy Gibson, Jr., Javon Hawkins, Tramia Gibson, Adam Williams, Jr., Troya Gibson and special grandson; the love of his life Tyrone Eugene Thomas-Hose; sisters Florence Bussey (Joseph), Sherlyn Chester, Georgia Braggs ( James) all of Philadelphia, Pa., mother-in-law Margaret Adkins of Pleasantville, sister-in-law Joan Taylor of Atlantic City, brothers-in-law Douglas Adkins (Margaret), Dennis Adkins and Mark Adkins (Cassandra) all of North Carolina, and a host of many other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ronald Chester and Roy Chester. Funeral services will honor him on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 11:00A.M. at The All Wars Memorial Building,New York & Kentucky Avenues, Atlantic City, NJ; where family and friendsmay view from 9:00AM until the time of services at 11:00AM.
