ALBERT WOOLSON Obituary

WOOLSON, ALBERT "DANNY" 80 - of Little Egg Harbor Twp., died in his home Thanksgiving morning, Nov, 28, surrounded by his loved ones. Dan was born and raised in West Creek. He and his family moved to Maryland for a short time where he graduated in 1952 from the Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville Maryland. He then returned to West Creek and soon joined the U.S. Army. He was a Korean War Veteran. He later became an electrician and was a Senior Relay Technician for the Atlantic City Electric Company and worked in the historic '62 Storm on LBI. For the 37 years he worked for the electric company, he never took a sick day. He retired in 1993. He was a past member of the Tuckerton First Aid Squad, past Sachem and member of the Redman Lodge in Tuckerton and a trustee for the Tuckerton Historical Society. He was a member of the Speed Garvey Association where he raced "Flipper." He and his partner Mike Fischer had the boat live up to its name on many occasions. He was the go to guy for any electrical needs of his family and friends and was a jack of all trades until he suffered a stroke in 2005, which left him unable to speak. He also suffered from Parkinson's disease. Although he struggled through the last eight years of his life without being able to express himself, he remained our hero and never acted anything less than courageous as well as kind. Dan was pre-deceased by his mother, Beatrice; father, Albert; and brother, Frank. He is survived by the love of his life, Constance. They recently celebrated their 57th year of marriage. He was a loving father to two daughters, Doreen Roehrs - husband Charles of Vero Beach, Fla. & Danielle Karch - husband Darrell of West Creek. Grandchildren, Daniel Hudock - wife Jessica of Citrus, Fla., Frank Porcelli IV of Salisbury, Md., & Selena Porcelli of Austin, Tx. Great-grandchildren, Kandis, Summer and Kale. A beloved sister, Betty Holloway of West Creek. His in-laws were also his cherished friends, Charles & Jean Wood, George Wood, Charlotte & Ron Fraser and Selena & Joe Denneler; and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Tuckerton on Saturday, December 28,2013 at 11 am with a gathering from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Tuckerton Methodist Church, the local Food Bank or the Meridian at Home Hospice Care. WOOD FUNERAL HOME 134 EAST MAIN STREET, TUCKERTON, N.J. is handling the arrangements.

Dear Connie and family, my most sincere condolences to all of you. I was an apprentice under Danny and fresh out of the military. Danny not only set the bar for excellence, he was so instrumental in teaching me some of life's most important lessons. I will miss him but what he taught me will never be forgotten. May God bless you during your time of sorrow.
